Sankha is an offering vessel; a symbol of Vishnu. In Hindu tradition, the conch shell seems to have been extensively used in wars by ancient Indian. The white conch shell whose humming sound proclaims the glory of the saints. It is especially given as a symbol to the Gods as the sound vibrated through a shell penetrates far and wide.

This is an old Tibetan Buddhist conch shell covered with beautifully carved sterling silver and studded with turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli. It is a trumpet formed from a white conch shell. It is heavily decorated with ornate patterns of Eight Tibebtan Lucky signs, flower and Vajra designs on silver which represents good energy. Conch Shells can be used as wind instruments. They are made by cutting a hole in the spire of the shell near the apex and then blowing into the shell as if it were a trumpet, as in blowing horn.
