Tsong-Ka-Pa Statue / Five Color Oxidized Statue

Description

Tsong-Ka-Pa was born in Tibet in the middle of the fourteenth century and it is said that the tree which overshadowed the house in which he was born had the imprint of a Buddha on it’s leaves. Tsong-Ka-Pa was a Northern Buddhist reformer. He founded the Gelugpa sect which became very popular in Tibet and has remained the most important sect upto the present day.

The whole body of this statue has been gilded with Gold by the ancient process of gold gilding using amalgam Gold. This process of Gold gilding is known as Mercury Gold Gilding and the external parts of this statue is oxidized with three different colors.
