Tsong-Ka-Pa Statue Set / Five Color Oxidized Statue

Description

This set represents Lama Tsongkhapa or Je Tsongkhapa or Je Rimpoche made with his two main disciples, Gyaltsab Je (Gyaltsab Dharma Rinchen) and Khedrup Je (Khedrup Gelek Pelzang).
Tsongkhapa (what literally menas “The man from Tsongkha”), usually taken to mean “the Man from Onion Valley”, born in Amdo in 1357. He became a famous teacher of Tibetan Buddhism whose activities led to the formation of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. In his two main treatises, the Lamrim Chenmo and Ngakrim Chenmo, Tsongkhapa meticulously sets forth this graduated way and how one establishes oneself in the paths of sutra and tantra.
Gyaltsab Je was a famous student of Lama Tsongkhapa. He was appointed as second abbot of Gaden monastery and became the Gaden Tripa or “holder of the Gaden Throne”, the head of the Gelug tradition, after Lama Tsongkhapa’s death. Khedrup Je was another Tsongkhapa’s main disciple and is recognized as the 1st Panchen Lama (one of the most important figures in the Gelug tradition).

Unlike most statues made for the tourists, all the details of this statue — such as the hands, face, etc — are made very carefully and in the details. Each statue has some space inside to be filled by traditional way. This hole is closed by cover. This set of statue is made by the process of loss wax system. And the whole body of this statue has been gilded with Gold by the ancient process of gold gilding using amalgam Gold. This process of Gold gilding is known as Mercury Gold Gilding and the external parts of this statue is oxidized with five different colors.
